A community that shows people what God is like

We want to be a community that shows people what God is really like by how we live, what we do and the way we do it. Generally people have no idea about what God is really like. They perceive church as irrelevant and God as being uninterested and absent from our world. The reality is that God loves people and cares deeply about issues that face our world. He is always reaching out to our society. We’d like you to meet Him too and see how life has real meaning with God at the centre. We often say that there is a God shaped hole in everyone’s life.

On Sundays we meet together in the City Centre, to worship and listen to teaching, but there is a whole other dimension to our life together through a community that is spread right across the city. What connects us is a common purpose and aim which is to show people what God is really like through how we live, work and serve as a community. The Bible describes the church as being a distinctive community that establishes His values and standards for society. In contrast to the values of the society that we live in, we want to demonstrate God’s original patterns for life and to show people in practice all about Him as He really is, and how vital it is for everyone to come to know Him and His preferences for how we live.

At New Horizons we are committed to living like this. We are excited to be on a journey together to become more and more like Jesus Christ in how we live, our priorities, what we do and how we do it. This journey requires perseverance, determination and the desire to sacrifice and put Jesus first in order to complete all that He wants us to do. We recognize we need to be trained, that we will face opposition, difficulties and real challenges, but it is all worth it to please Him and give back our lives as He gave His life sacrificially for us.
