Community Events

We believe that God wants us to be a thriving, active community where people share all aspects of life – building relationships, learning and developing, being healthy, enjoying sports, celebrating festivals and more!

We want to be a place where everyone contributes to that life and vibrancy, where each person offers their unique talents, skills, knowledge and interests to build and edify the community. A key way in which we can do this is through community events. We have a team that is beginning to co-ordinate and help the community to run events as diverse as a family trip to a farm through to a parenting seminar, or leadership conference.

As we believe that every member has to contribute to the life of the body, we must learn to function together – to connect and relate to each other. Part of how we grow in this area is through ‘CommunityNet Events’. These are events that have a primary focus on building relationships and getting to know one another better. They also provide a forum to invite friends to who are not a part of New Horizons and an opportunity for those who are joining this church to sample community life.

A recent sample of our events includes the setting up of a squash ladder, a community lunch, treasure hunt, sports afternoon and a trip to the theatre. Community Events which you could expect to see in the future might include cooking evenings, walks, picnics and days out, financial planning seminars or leadership development days.
