Students

Becoming a student provides you with a massive range of opportunities. It is a critical time of development and a time when you will begin to make significant choices about the direction that your life will take.

If you are already a Christian, you may be faced with a choice for the first time about how seriously you are going to take your faith. Will the paths that your parents or friends have walked in become the routes that you will also follow? Alternatively, you may have encountered the gospel and become a Christian and disciple of Jesus Christ for the first time whilst studying away from home.

Whatever your starting point, as a believer, you will need to make a decision about which church community you are going to invest your life into. One thing you can be sure of is that your time at university will pass very quickly and all the temporary structures of university life will evaporate. The time and flexibility that you have now is an immensely valuable gift. You need to be wise in how you invest that time and what you invest in will have a significant impact on your future. As Christians we are called to run the race that God has set out for us to win – university is a good time to learn how to run that race better for Christ’s sake.

At New Horizons, our conviction is that all students who are disciples of Christ, must be an active, functioning part of a church community. This is because Jesus requires not just a personal response to Him but also requires involvement and connection to His body – the church.

Vision

Our aim at New Horizons is to work with students as they encounter a new complex and challenging environment. It is to provide clear biblical teaching and insight so that they will know how to navigate that world. We want to provide them with the relationships, skills and knowledge to know how to continue to grow as strong disciples of Jesus Christ and as mature members of His Body, well beyond their three years at university. We believe that God has called us to serve students in this way.

Our desire is that all students discover what unique plan and purpose God has for them. We want to help those who come to New Horizons to work out that plan as members of a local church body.

If you choose to become a member of New Horizons, we will commit to helping you grow in your faith. In return, we would expect you to play an active part in community life and be fully integrated into the life of the church.

Global Leadership Interlink

Many students at New Horizons are also involved in the Global Leadership Interlink. This is an international network of professional people that trains students and professionals for their working life, through teaching, group work and linking with people from different countries around the world. Whilst your working life may seem a long way in the future, the skills and insight offered by GLI will enable you to get the most from your degree and to have the best preparation for working life.

Getting to the Sunday Meeting

Our Sunday meeting takes place at the Coventry Boys' Club, in the city centre, at 10.30am. Click here to see a location map.

From Coventry University/City Centre

Because our Sunday meetings are in the city centre, it is convenient to walk to the Boys’ Club from many Coventry University Halls of Residence. Whitefriars Lane is a left hand turn off the road with Browns on (Jordan Well), between the Ellen Terry Building and the Campbell Pub.

To get to the Boys’ Club, follow Whitefriars Street past the Sports Centre on your right. Keep following Whitefriars Street becomes Whitefriars Lane round as it bends to the left. The Boys' Club is at the end of the lane through the gates on the left hand side.

If you plan to walk to the meeting and would like to meet with others to find the way, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will arrange to meet at the main student union building, opposite the Cathedral, at 10.15am to go to the meeting.

University of Warwick

Students at the University of Warwick can request a lift from campus to the Sunday meeting. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will arrange a lift for you to and from the meeting.
